As greyhound racing comes to an end in New Zealand, we’re working alongside rehoming organisations, industry participants, and communities to ensure every greyhound and the people who work with them are cared for throughout the transition.

This is a moment that matters - for the dogs, and for the people around them.

Working together

We’re supporting the rehoming of more than 1,700 greyhounds and the communities behind them across New Zealand.

Our role is to bring the right people and organisations together – helping rehoming agencies work in a more connected, coordinated way so dogs are placed into loving long-term homes.

That means:

  • Making sure every dog is safe, healthy, and well cared for
  • Supporting rehoming agencies to work together and place dogs into the right homes
  • Helping people connected to the industry move forward
  • Managing the transition with care and responsibility

Support for people in the industry

This change affects not only the dogs, but the people who have been part of the industry.

If you need support, we’re here to point you in the right direction – connecting you with the people, services, and information you need to take your next step.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Why it matters

Greyhounds make incredible pets
– gentle, calm, and full of character.
Every dog deserves the chance to thrive in a loving home.
People connected to the industry are supported to move forward.
Together, we can make that happen.

Every greyhound will be cared for – every step of the way.
