Man with greyhound

Every Step Helps

We’re walking the length of New Zealand to raise awareness of Greyhound Adoption.
Whether you already have a greyhound or simply want to meet one, join your local walk and discover why retired racing greyhounds make such great pets.

Together we can make a difference to find loving homes for them.

FAQs

Got questions? Find answers to our most frequently asked questions below.

How do I join an existing walk?

Joining a walk is super easy, simply turn up on the day to participate. Make yourself known to the organiser and listen out for their instructions for the walk. All walkers are responsible for themselves, their dogs and respecting the wider public.

Do I need a Greyhound to join the walk?

No, you’re welcome to walk without a Greyhound. The walks are all about meeting Greyhounds, their owners and rehoming specialists to experience how great a pet they make. All walkers are responsible for themselves, their dogs and respecting the wider public.

Can I walk my Greyhound on my own?

Yes, we love the idea of anyone who is out walking their Greyhound on the day, in a group or even on your own. However, to contribute your km’s towards our 3000km goal, you’ll have to tag us in any social posts using @greyhoundrehomingproject, or email us your walk details to info@greyhoundtransition.org.nz.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes you can bring your dog, but ALL dogs must be on leads at ALL times, and dogs MUST be muzzled if required. Owners MUST clear up the poop, and MUST be respectful to the general public on the walk.

How can I add my walk numbers?

To contribute your km’s towards our 3000km goal, you just have to either tag us in any social posts using @greyhoundrehomingproject, or email us your walk details to info@greyhoundtransition.org.nz.
